The treatment aims of orthodontics, like occlusion, aesthetics and function, didn´t change too much the last decades.
Besides that, the diagnostic and treatment range of modern orthodontics got much wider.
New high-tech tools and innovations promise to easily guide us to success.
But still achieving acceptable or even excellent orthodontic results seem to be “not easy” in real life everyday orthodontic practice.
The lectures will discuss everyday challenges in orthodontic diagnostics and treatment.
High- and low-tech biomechanics will be demonstrated, clinical tips and tricks will be given and failures will be shown.
All this will be illustrated presenting a wide range of clinical examples and discussed with the orthodontic literature.

2022. június 11. 11:00-13:30 – The Time-Quality-Cost Trinity of the Triamond System and the WEDGEWISE Technique

Dr. Moshe Davidovitch DDS, MMSc, Cert Orthod received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania (1985), his DDS degree from The Ohio State University (1989), and his Masters and certification in orthodontics from Harvard University (1992). He was an Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently the acting department chairman of Orthodontics at Tel Aviv University. His research interests include the biology of tooth movement, biomechanics, acceleration of orthodontic tooth movement, growth and development, and treatment outcome assessment. He also maintains a private practice limited to orthodontics in Tel Aviv, Israel which incorporates innovations and entrepreneurial endeavors.

For the past 100 years the modern tool of choice to correct malocclusions has been the Edgewise appliance (Angle). During this period, the time needed to treat patients has not been reduced because each version is only a variant of the same design all having the same inherent flaws. This static condition has been altered with the introduction of the WEDGEWISE technique incorporated in the TRIAMOND system. This new category of treatment appliance has a triangular arch wire slot engaging a complementary wire (not edgewise). Treatment is performed with lighter forces in significantly less time and requires only 2 arch wires. In this way, the quality of treatment is not compromised while overhead is reduced and time is saved. TRIAMOND is the first new fixed appliance in a century and will reset the standard for the orthodontic profession.

completed a postgraduate course in Orofacial Pain at the University of New Jersey, USA.
He is a researcher and aggregate Professor of the Chair of Orthodontics and of the Specialization
School of Orthodontics of the Dental School of the University of Torino, Torino, Italy. Since 2019
is the educational and clinical coordinator of the Specialization School in Orthodontics of the
University of Torino. Research interests are focused on the biology of orthodontic tooth movement,
aligner orthodontics predictability, orthodontic materials, sleep and awake bruxism.
He is author or co-author of more than 100 publications on peer-review journals, national dental
journals and of chapters of books, and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Aligner
Orthodontics edited by Quintessence.

Society (EOS), International member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and

He is a founding member and president elect of the European Aligner Society
His private practice is in Torino, Italy.

The demand for minimally invasive solutions led to the development of appliances that
combine effectiveness in correcting dental positions with comfort and aesthetics features.
Despite the widespread use of orthodontic therapy with clear aligners, their level of efficiency
is still controversial. However, the reliability of CAT has increased due to the implementation
of the thermoplastic biomaterials and a better understanding of biomechanics applied in
combination with the exponential number of biomedical studies.
Systematic reviews on the predictability of orthodontic movements of teeth with aligners
showed that bodily movements, in the sagittal and vertical planes are unpredictable.
One of the reasons why the effectiveness of aligners is still under discussion could be the
force transmission mechanism. In the traditional system, the orthodontic movement is the
result of the interactions of metal wires and brackets to the tooth; conversely, in the aligners
system, the forces and moments are generated by the difference between the shape of aligners
and the teeth. In addition, the resolution of complex movements demands the use of
attachments. The application of engineering knowledge in dentistry with the use of
computational techniques has helped to understand oral biomechanics aspects. The finite
element method (FEM) is a numerical technique used to perform finite element analysis
(FEA) of any given physical phenomenon and is widely accepted for medical purposes. The
aim of the lecture is to provide some clinical tips, based on FEAs, in order to increase the
predictability of some orthodontic tooth movement with aligners.

Title: An introduction into Clear Aligner Treatment
Abstract:

Clear aligner technology has added a new dimension to orthodontics. In this lecture Dr Pérez-Boza will give you an extensive introduction into clear aligner treatment. She will elucidate the biomechanical principles of tooth movement by clear aligners and which role the material and the trimline play. You will learn about the patient examination and the records required for clear aligners. Furthermore, you will get to know how to identify the complexity of cases to be treated with clear aligners and you will know the criteria to select suitable cases. Insights in treatment success factors for clear aligners will help you to achieve predictable outcomes with clear aligner treatment.

Title: Clear Aligner Treatment with the ClearCorrect aligner system
Abstract:

During her lecture Dr María Antonieta Pérez-Boza will present you the main features of the ClearCorrect aligner system. You will be taught about the clear aligner workflow and technology by a presentation of ClearCorrect’s Dr Portal to submit a case and how to do the treatment planning via ClearPilot. After the lecture you will know the available treatment options with the ClearCorrect aligner system. The advantages of a fully digital workflow will be explained by the means of ClearCorrect’s Digital Orthodontic Ecosystem. Title: The Benefits of Incorporating Clear Aligners within your Practice
Abstract:

Dr Mar will present you how he has implemented clear aligner treatment in his Orthodontic practice Mar Orthodontics in St. Albert, Canada. Dr Mar is dedicated to the orthodontic journey and passionate about providing treatment for adults, adolescents and children. Today, 50% of the patients at Mar Orthodontics are adults ranging from 18 to 75. Thanks to technological advancements and increasing awareness about discrete treatment options like clear aligners, more and more adults are feeling confident – even excited – about orthodontic treatment. Dr Mar will share with you how he approaches his patients and educates them on clear aligner treatment: Why should they opt for clear aligners? Why ClearCorrect?
He will highlight how you can use clear aligners in your practice to grow and take your office to the next level.

Title: The possibilities with ClearCorrect aligner treatment: from simple to complex cases
Abstract:

In this lecture Dr Mar will share cases he has treated within his practice. From simple, straight forward, to complex cases. Why did Dr Mar propose ClearCorrect treatment to these patients? Braces vs Aligners – when did he decide to treat with clear aligners and why? How did he examine his patients and which digital tools did he use? How did he do the treatment planning? And which points did he consider to achieve the desired end result? You will learn how Dr Mar sees revisions and how he approaches the topic of retainers. After this lecture you will have a good overview of the possibilities of clear aligner treatment by ClearCorrect.
